Day 7: Acts Of Kindness
Here’s a crazy idea;
I’m probably much more likely to hear God speak if I ask Him how I can help with the stuff He is busy with than if I only ask Him to help me with the stuff I’m busy with.
Now among the many things we know our Good Father is busy with, we know He loves to provide for those in His care. He loves blessing us so much that He tells us to ask and He promises to supply:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God…
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Most of the time we can’t help but compare ourselves with those who seem to have more than us so we end up feeling short-changed and like we are the ones needing to be blessed, but the truth is, we are probably far more materially blessing than the vast majority of people in our city. Regardless of how your bank-balance looks, the point is; we are Jesus Christ’s ambassadors in this world and we have the incredible privilege of being used by Him to be part of His plan to provide for people. Jesus said it was more blessed to give than to receive and if you’ve ever been able to supply someone else’s need on behalf of God you’ll know how true that is, it feels amazing! Far more amazing than receiving a gift (though that feels pretty cool too).
Here’s today’s challenge:
Step 1: Ask God how much money He would like to provide for someone through you.
Step 2: Remind yourself that God loves a cheerful giver so stop frowning and stressing every time you think about parting with your moola.
Step 3: Praise God for His provision in your life and for the privilege of being used by Him to bless another life.
Step 4: Draw the money in cash and put it in an envelope with a note that says something like: “God led me to bless you specifically with this money today. He loves you so much and knows exactly what you need. It is my prayer that this gift draws you closer to Him through Jesus Christ. Enjoy it!”
Step 5: Head out into your day praying that God would put someone on your heart to bless. You’re on a treasure hunt so keep your eyes open all day!
Step 6: Obey God and go in for the strike! You can simply press it into their hands and mumble something like “God bless you” or you can explain everything and offer to pray for them. Either way, what’s the worst that could happen?
Step 7: Share any cool stories with us so we can build each other’s faith in our God who loves to provide as much as He loves to speak!
