Day 10: Praise & Prayer
Read 2 Chronicles 20:1-23
I love this scripture. It speaks of a people that are desperate to hear God. They are about to come under attack and all they can do is turn to God and pray in Faith for his deliverance from their situation. There are armies approaching with tens of thousands of men and they are out numbered. There is no way they could ever win this battle and so they turn to their Father to seek him out.
Time and time again we spoke about hearing God’s voice amidst the noise, hearing his voice above everything else. This is what the people of Judah decided to do when faced with trials. Stop everything and pray.
And then God spoke.
Through a man called Jahaziel. And what Jahaziel had to say shifted that entire community into a place of Faith and trusting God. They walked into battle with a song on their lips; “give thanks to the Lord, for his steadfast love endures forever.” And they began to worship him, and give him praise.
And suddenly the battle was over without the lifting of sword. It says that God set an ambush on the enemies and turned them against themselves.
Worship is a powerful tool.
And next Wednesday(14/10) at our Praise and Prayer, we get to worship. We get to celebrate what God has been saying. We will hear stories and testimonies of people that have heard his voice and we will sing his praises and give him the Glory that he deserves. For those of you that are still on this journey of hearing God speak, I encourage you to come as an act of Faith. Just as the people of Judah marched into battle without knowing what God was going to do, come to Praise and Prayer and continue to trust that our Father will speak to you.
I once heard this amazing quote, “worship is not a song offered up but a life laid down in surrender.” We can make this an evening where we completely surrender ourselves to being lead by his voice, a mark in this church’s history where we chose to live more by Faith than fear.
We look forward to worshipping with every one of you.
